This it the exciting SECOND official installment of "JCJ Take Over, Day in the Life!" and my dear friend Robbie took over Chicago for the day sportin’ his JCJ jewelry and documented it on the JCJ Instagram take over!
I sent him a mini interview (read below!)- Here is the recap with pictures from his JCJ day in the life in the gorgeous city of Chicago, where spring certainly is in the air! Thanks again, Robbie for sharing your rad style and creative energy while rockin’ in your Jennifer Cervelli Jewelry!
A little background on this stud and my friendship of over 12 years and counting as well as many cities and counting!
Robbie and I met in college in Savannah, Georgia circa 2004ish while we were both working for Paris Hilton! Well we were both employees at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Savannah, sadly no sight of Paris during our time there. We were fast friends – Robbie’s sense of humor would make my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. We shared a love for the arts (being in art school, duh), and music connected us as we would blast the tunes and sing out hearts out whenever the occasion called. His friendship became one of my closest throughout college and continuing throughout life.
Fast forward to after college, Robbie adventured out to the Bay Area to live with our friend Shal (last JCJ takeover!) and I in Alameda where every night he would come up with incredible, unique meals and drink specials that I looked forward to nightly after work. His creative spirit and thirst for the new has always inspired me.
Robbie is back in his main stopping ground of Chicago – an incredible city I have yet to explore with him, but I am overdue for a visit! Robbie has always been one of the biggest supporters of JCJ (since the college years!!) and he has greatly influenced the inspiration and growth of JCJ Mens: The Phoenix Collection. Robbie, thank you for your amazing JCJ Takeover, for your time, and for your incredible creative energy!
When is your birthday, and what is your sign?
April 14 and I am an Aries
How old are you?
grasping onto 31
Where do you live? What is one of your favorite things about where you live?
I live in the great city of Chicago. Chicago is just a great cultural melting pot. Every neighborhood has something to do, to see and eat. I love having the city and the beach at my fingertips. Always something to do, even in the dead of Winter.
What is your favorite color and why?
Purple. It is my compromise between red and blue. I love the firey burn of red and the revitalization of the deep blue. Plus I have a huge passion for Alzheimer’s Awareness.
How would you describe your style?
Plaids, Demins, Suede… I have been told this is preppy, hipster and lumbersexual. My style is relaxed and casual. If I’m not wearing those three items, I have been seen sporting activewear as I run the city.
What inspires you?
I live to learn. I love the challenge of, “oh no, you can’t do that”. Anything is possible. Work hard and push through. Anything is possible. Its an amazing feeling when you accomplish something new.
Who do you look up to and why?
Besides the obvious, my parents, I go with Honey Brown. She is the lady half of my roommate that comes to life like the moon. She is just really passionate about what she does. She knows how to connect with her audience through music and performance. Its just really inspiring to see how brave she is to step out in those heels and put a smile on so many people’s faces. Be who you are and love that person.
What would you pick as your spirit animal?
Dog. I must have been one in a past life. I love the wild spirits and their les cei faire personalities and the unconditional love. But let’s not forget, they also have a 6th sense for assholes.
What is one thing you can’t live without?
I would have to go with music. It just communicates to me in every way. From the alarm clock in the morning to the city walks to the long runs and wild nights of dancing. It also changes seasonally which just makes me weird (in a good way). Gets me through life’s ups and downs, my biggest motivation tool.
Who is your favorite musician or band?
I grew up a big No Doubt fan, but since Gwen and the boys are having commitment issues, I will go with Garbage. The lyrics have a message and music wakes me. I can chill at home, I can dance in the kitchen, I can charge to a finish line. I listen to their entire catalog on repeat and never get sick of it. I just connects with my inner weird. Plus Shirlz told Kanye to STFU.
Whiskey or vodka?
Whiskey, duh. What kind of lumbersexual would I be without Whisky?
What is your favorite song?
Now I will give no doubt their shout out. I love Sunday Morning. No Doubt has this energy that brings me out of my Winter hibernation. Every March/April, the temperatures warm up and it just gives you chills. A sign of new beginnings.
A little known fact about you?
i am left handed? Which apparently means I have a shorter life expectancy than the other.
How do you know me? What is our connection?
MacDaddy! We both once worked for Paris Hilton. We have been through many adventures together since. I miss those adventures, we need a new one :)
What is your favorite JCJ design and why? (doesn’t have to be one you own!)
I have been around since the beginning and eagerly awaited the masculine designs. Once I saw the Mako Chain, I put my name on it. I also really enjoy the shark cuff links. I think the materials you use really speak of natural miracles. As a kid, I grew up collecting rocks and gems, and was amazed at what nature could do. Everything you create puts a sparkle in my eye.
What’s your guilty pleasure song to sing at the top of your lungs, windows down, wind in your hair kind of singing.
As Spring came super early to Chicago this year, I have noticed that I have been wildin’ out to a few songs. I think my current guilty pleasure song is Grimes Kill Vs Maim. Over the winter, I was training for a run and was acting crazy on the treadmill (in public) with hand guns and getting low. Don’t try this at home, please.
